Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM)

The Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) is a key tool developed by UNESCO to help countries evaluate how prepared they are to adopt ethical and responsible AI. It supports Member States in implementing the UNESCO Recommendation on the Ethics of AI by offering in-depth insights into various dimensions of AI readiness.
RAM identifies institutional and regulatory gaps and allows UNESCO to provide tailored support to governments in building a trustworthy and inclusive AI ecosystem. It works alongside the Ethical Impact Assessment tool, which focuses on the ethical risks of specific AI systems, offering a comprehensive approach to ethical AI governance.

The Government of Curaçao, Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports in collaboration with key national partners, including the UNESCO Chair on SIDS at the University of Curaçao hosted a Validation Session to study the landscape and identify AI readiness, ensuring alignment with UNESCO’s Recommendation on the Ethics of AI. During the session government officials, private sector representatives, academia, and civil society were brough together to review and finalize Curaçao’s readiness to AI governance.
