Climate change is one of the defining issues of our time. Over 30 UNESCO programmes in the sciences, education, culture and communication contribute to creating knowledge, educating and communicating about climate change, and to understanding the ethical implications for present and future generations.

Curaçao Climate Change Policy Assessment

In 2018 the Participation Programme project submitted by the Meteorological Department Curaçao named “Curaçao Climate Change Policy Assessment”, was approved and received seed funding from the organization to execute the project during 2018 and 2019.

The overall objective of the UNESCO project is to enhance the resilience of Curaçao for the adverse impacts of natural hazards and the losses of biodiversity due to climate change by further strengthening the collaboration between the government agencies, the private sector and the NGOs to develop guide lines for the development of the national strategic adaptation plan. This project can be allocated under the national Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Program, World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Disaster Risk Reduction program and the UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Program on the mapping of Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) contribution to the implementation of the 2030 agenda.
